Vegan pizza babka

Pizza and babka are two iconic foods, each with their own dedicated fan bases. But what happens when you combine them? You get the delicious and unique creation known as pizza babka.

Pizza babka is a delicious dish that is perfect for all pizza lovers. It is easy to prepare, versatile and incredibly tasty. Whether you’re a fan of traditional pizza toppings or prefer something more adventurous, babka pizza is sure to delight your taste buds.

The beginnings of babka go back to the Jewish community of Eastern Europe. Babka is a sweet, leavened bread that has been enjoyed in Jewish households for centuries. It was usually filled with sweet ingredients such as chocolate or cinnamon, but eventually people began to experiment with savory fillings, including pizza fillings.

Babka pizza is a delicious and unique version of traditional pizza. This is a yeast dough bread that is filled with delicious pizza toppings. From the crispy crust to the melted cheese, every bite is a delicious experience. We spread the dough with pureed tomatoes and added vegan cheese, but you can fill it according to your taste. Add vegan “salami”, mushrooms, onions and create unique combinations.

Ingredients and instructions

You need 10 simple ingredients for a delicious pizza babka:

  • flour – white, semi-white or spelt flour,
  • dry yeast,
  • coconut sugar– can also use white or brown sugar,
  • salt,
  • turmeric– for coloring the dough,
  • water,
  • tomato puree,
  • dried basil and oregano and
  • vegan cheese.

First, knead the dough: put flour, yeast, sugar, salt and turmeric in a bowl and mix. Add lukewarm water and mix and knead into a dough with your hands. Cover and let rest for at least 30 minutes. Roll the dough on a floured kitchen towel into a rectangle. Mix tomato with basil, oregano and salt and coat the dough with this mixture and sprinkle grated cheese over the entire surface. Roll the dough tightly, cut on each side and weave. Place in a baking tray and bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 200 °C (390 °F).

Ingredients
  

DOUGH

  • 400 g 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 7 g 1 tbsp dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut sugar
  • 5 g 1 tsp salt
  • a pinch of turmeric
  • 160 ml 3/4 cup lukewarm water

FILLING

  • 250 g 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 tablespoon of dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 140 g vegan cheese

Instructions
 

  • First, knead the dough: put flour, yeast, sugar, salt and turmeric in a bowl and mix. Add lukewarm water and mix and knead into a dough with your hands. Cover and let rest for at least 30 minutes.
  • Roll the dough on a floured kitchen towel into a rectangle.
  • Mix tomato with basil, oregano and salt and coat the dough with this mixture and sprinkle grated cheese over the entire surface.
  • Roll the dough tightly, cut on each side and weave.
