Vegan potato au gratin

Potato au gratin is a divine dish that is extremely easy to prepare and tastes absolutely amazing! Combination of crispy crust on top and rich mixture of potatoes and sauce inside is simply impossible to resist.

If you are tired of classic baked, boiled or fried potatoes, then you should give potato au gratin a try, it is a great alternative that will spice up your menu. You can also prepare it as a side dish for Christmas or New Year’s Eve dinner and impress your guests with it. It is very easy to prepare, you only need 9 ingredients, most of which are spices. In addition to potatoes, which are of course the main ingredient of this dish, all you need is:

  • vegan cooking sauce,
  • almond or soy drink,
  • yeast flakes,
  • garlic powder,
  • onion powder,
  • sol,
  • turmeric in
  • pepper.

This dish is also gluten-free, so you can enjoy it even on gluten free diet.

Preparation

The whole preparation takes some time, but only because it takes around an hour to bake, so that it can get really soft and tasty. Otherwise, the preparation is simple, first you have to cut the potatoes with a slicer into very thin pieces, no thicker than 2 mm, and place it in a bowl. Put all of the other ingredients in a pot, stir and bring to a boil, then pour this boiling mixture over the potatoes and mix well. Transfer to a baking tray and bake for 60 minutes at 200 °C. If the potatoes are starting to get brown on top, cover it with baking paper to keep them from burning and continue baking.

Ingredients
  

  • 800 g potatoes
  • 200 g vegan cooking cream
  • 70 ml almond drink
  • 10 g nutritional yeast
  • 4 g garlic powder
  • 6 g onion powder
  • 5 g of salt
  • a pinch of turmeric
  • half a teaspoon of pepper

Instructions
 

  • Peel potatoes and cut them into thin slices (about 2 mm thick).
  • Put vegan cooking cream, almond drink, nutritional yeast and spices in the pot. Stir and bring to a boil.
  • Pour the boiling sauce over the potatoes and mix well, then place in a baking dish.
  • Bake for 60 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 °C.
