Traditional Japanese dish made in a vegan way – simple, tasty and healthy!
We absolutely love sushi, but we have never made it ourselves before, so we thought it was about time! And we were surprised how easy it actually is too make it. Sushi is a delicious and healthy dish made from only 5 healthy ingredients. We filled it with cucumber, carrots and peppers, but you can use any vegetables you like. It is also excellent with avocado, red cabbage, tofu… You can make it according to your taste. We sprinkled it with sesame seeds and served it together with soy sauce and wasabi (Japanese horseradish).
Ingredients and Process
You only need 5 ingredients for these delicious rolls:
- rice for sushi – use the rice that is specifically labeled for sushi, because it is stickier than other rice and ensures that the rolls do not fall apart,
- nori algae sheet,
- bell pepper,
- carrots and
- cucumber.
Put water and rice in a pot and bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes, then set the rice aside and let it cool. Meanwhile, prepare the vegetables: cut the cucumber, carrot and pepper into strips. Put rice on a sheet of algae and then add the vegetables. Put the vegetables on the rice about three centimeters from the edge of the seaweed (on the first third). Roll it towards the top and make sure that the sushi is tightly wrapped. Cut the sushi into small rolls and serve with soy sauce and wasabi.
