Autumn brings one of our favorite ingredients –apples. Today we share with you a recipe for apple focaccia, which combines an Italian classic with a sweet touch of autumn.
Although traditional focaccia is usually savory and seasoned with rosemary or salt, this sweet twist brings something completely new. It is an excellent choice for an autumn snack, dessert or even breakfast. The preparation is simple, and the flavors are completely seasonal! The combination of light, soft and slightly crispy dough with applesauce and juicy apples, with a light touch of cinnamon will fill your kitchen with the smell of apple pie, but in the form of bread!

Apple focaccia
Ingredients
- 450 g (3 cup) white wheat flour
- 7 g (1 package) dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon (1 tsp) coconut sugar
- 250 ml (1 cup) lukewarm water not hot
- 20 g (2 tbsp) olive oil
- 260 g (1 cup) applesauce
- 1 apple
- 2 plums
- powdered sugar and cinnamon for sprinkling or/and maple syrup for topping
Instructions
- Put flour, dry yeast and coconut sugar in a bowl, mix and make a well in the middle.
- Put lukewarm water and olive oil in the well and knead well.
- Cover with a dish towel and leave to rest in a warm place for 45 minutes.
- Oil the pan well and when the dough has risen, shape it into a pan.
- Oil the dough and use your fingers to press deep dimples into the surface of the dough.
- Pour the applesauce over the dough, add sliced apple and plums and bake for 25-30 minutes in a preheated oven at

- When the focaccia is baked, cut it into pieces and sprinkle with a mixture of powdered sugar and cinnamon. You can also top it with maple syrup.
