Peel and finely chop onions, put them in a pot along with 2 dl of water and bring to a boil.
Cook for 5 to 10 minutes to let them soften, then add grated garlic, sliced raw potatoes, carrots, chopped leeks, parsley, bay leafs and pour in 7 dl of water.
Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and cook for 30-40 minutes.
When the potatoes are soft, add tomato sauce and all of the spices to taste, stir and cook for another 10 minutes.
Serve on its own or with bread.
